As early as 1974, the Islamic Affairs Research Center of the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office had introduced national halal certification. Since 2005, the Malaysian Ministry of Islamic Religious Development (JAKIM) has implemented a halal certification system and is responsible for regulating and enforcing halal guidelines. Malaysia is a member state of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Malaysia's halal certification is the only international halal certification and logo supported by the government and adopted by all Muslim countries. Halal certification agencies in other countries are only developed by individual provinces or states, or even non-governmental organizations.
